TonicDM alternatives for architects

TonicDM does two things well and prices them honestly: it files email by project inside Microsoft 365, and it sends large files with tracked downloads, with RFIs and submittals in a $30 tier. Firms look elsewhere when they need more than filing, when the office is not on Microsoft 365, or when the drawing set and the money need to live with the RFIs.

What TonicDM is

TonicDM is project file management for architects and engineers, built as a sidebar inside Microsoft 365. The Standard tier files email to projects, keeps contacts and team directories, and sends large files with automatic transmittals and download tracking. Standard + CA adds RFI and submittal workflows, emailing to an RFI or a submittal, and a Procore integration. It publishes its prices, which is rarer in this category than it should be, and includes unlimited projects and storage in both. No 2026 release notes were public on the day this page was checked; the table says so rather than guessing.

It is a focused tool, and the focus is the point. It does not try to manage the drawing set, run bidding, review pay applications or close out the project. If those are not on your list, TonicDM is cheap and well made.

The alternatives, and when each fits

Newforma Konekt is the larger version of the same idea: deeper email filing, the firm-wide archive and a fuller CA package, at an unpublished price. Part3 drops email filing and goes further on construction administration: submittals, RFIs, change orders and field reports, synced with Procore. LODE goes in a different direction: the drawing set compiled from every issuance, with bidding, CA, pay applications and closeout run on it, the firm\u2019s contacts, companies, files and lessons in the Hub, and no inbound email filing at all. How CA works in LODE.

TonicDM and three alternatives

Every cell about another product links to the page it was read on. Where a product does not publish a price, the table says so.

A Microsoft 365 firm that wants email filed by project and files sent with tracked downloads, at a low per-seat price.

tonicdm.com

Newforma Konekt

newforma.com/newforma-konekt

Part3

part3.io

Where TonicDM is the better choice

  • An office on Microsoft 365 that wants email filed by project and files sent with a transmittal, from inside Outlook, for $15 a seat.
  • A published price with unlimited projects and storage, and a CA tier at $30 for the people who process RFIs and submittals.
  • Staff who will file email and send files but never touch CA, who should not pay for a CA seat anywhere.

Choose LODE when the set, the specs, the money and the closeout need to be in the same place as the RFIs, and the email can stay where it is.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best TonicDM alternative?

For a bigger email-filing and PIM tool, Newforma Konekt. For construction administration on Procore jobs with field reports, Part3. For the drawing set and the whole architect’s project from bidding to closeout, LODE.

How much does TonicDM cost?

As published on TonicDM’s pricing page on the date in the table: Standard $15 and Standard + CA $30 per user per month, with unlimited projects and storage in both. Check the page; prices move.

Does TonicDM manage drawings?

Its pricing and platform pages describe email filing, large-file transfer, transmittals, RFIs and submittals. Compiling a current drawing set from issuances is not described; that is what LODE does.

Does LODE work with Microsoft 365?

LODE is a web app and does not plug into Outlook; Microsoft sign-in works. Notifications are in the app and there is no inbound email filing. A firm that wants Outlook filed to projects can run TonicDM beside LODE.

More than filing: the set, the records and the money in one place.
